Mastering
The final stage should reveal the music, not change it.
Mastering is where I step back from the mix and listen to the record as a complete piece of music.
I focus on the things that make a production work: tonal balance, dynamics, groove, impact, depth and translation across different listening environments.
My approach is not about making every record louder or forcing it into a particular sound. It's about understanding what the music is trying to do and making sure that intention survives through the final master.
With more than 15 years of experience working with live musicians, orchestras, singers and complex productions, I bring a performance-based perspective to the mastering process.
What I Listen for...
Tonal Balance → Making sure the frequency spectrum supports the music without becoming distracting.
Dynamics → Preserving the movement, contrast and energy that make a performance feel alive.
Translation → Making confident decisions that hold together across different listening environments.
Impact & Groove → Making sure the relationship between kick, bass, rhythm, vocals and the rest of the arrangement feels right.
Consistency → For EPs and albums, making sure the songs belong together while retaining their individual character.
I don't master for loudness. I master for the music.
The goal is simple: when you hear the finished master, you should hear more of what made you love the recording in the first place.

From the performance to the finished master
Some recordings need more than mastering. They need someone who understands the performance from the inside out.
Working from your multitrack session allows me to understand how the arrangement is built, how the musicians interact, where the energy develops and which details give the performance its character.
Drawing from a career built around mixing live music and complex productions, I can take your project from the original multitracks through mixing and mastering, keeping the musical direction connected throughout the entire process.
My approach isn't about making every instrument equally prominent. Every instrument has a purpose within the arrangement. Sometimes it needs to lead, sometimes it needs to support, and sometimes its contribution is a small detail that appears for only a moment.
This service is particularly suited to live recordings and organic productions where groove, dynamics, arrangement and the interaction between musicians are fundamental to the music.

Keeping mixing and mastering under one roof means I can make decisions during the mix with the final master already in mind - without losing the character, dynamics or intention of the original performance.
The goal is to take what happened during the recording and carry that feeling all the way through to the finished record.
Mixing
Every instrument has a purpose.
A great mix isn't about making everything equally loud or equally present. It's about understanding the role each instrument plays and creating the space for the arrangement to work as a whole.
I listen for the interaction between instruments - the relationship between kick and bass, the movement of the rhythm section, the space around the vocals, the character of acoustic instruments and the small details that bring an arrangement to life.
My approach to mixing was shaped in live performance, where balance isn't static - it moves with the arrangement, the musicians and the energy of the music.
Dynamics are an important part of that process. If the music needs to grow, breathe, pull back or suddenly hit with more energy, the mix should allow that movement to happen naturally.
Performance before perfection.
I don't want to remove the personality of a recording in pursuit of technical perfection. Small details, interactions between musicians and the natural movement of a performance can be exactly what gives a record its character.
My job is to bring clarity, balance and impact to the production while preserving what made the performance worth recording in the first place.
The result should feel like the same music you created - only with everything working together.
Audio Restoration & Repair
When something gets in the way of the music.
Not every recording arrives in perfect condition. Unwanted noise, clicks, hum, distortion or other technical problems can distract from an otherwise great performance.
Using specialised restoration tools and careful listening, I can identify and reduce problematic elements while preserving as much of the original recording as possible.
Restoration isn't about making a recording unnaturally clean. It's about removing what shouldn't be there without damaging what should.
Repair with a purpose.
Whether the problem is part of a multitrack session, a finished mix or an older recording, the goal remains the same: solve the technical problem while protecting the character, dynamics and musical intention of the original material.
