STUDIO

Room

A room built for listening.

Blue Waves is a dedicated mixing and mastering studio built around one priority: making reliable decisions about music.

The room, monitoring and signal path have been developed to provide an accurate and consistent listening environment, allowing me to focus on tonal balance, dynamics, depth, imaging and the small details that matter at the final stages of a record.

My main monitoring system is built around Neumann KH 310 monitors and a KH 750 subwoofer, calibrated to work together with the room. A secondary monitoring system and everyday playback references provide another perspective when checking how a record translates beyond the studio.

The technology is important—but only because it helps me answer the question that matters:

Does the music sound and feel right?

Monitoring

Different perspectives. One decision.

My main monitoring system is built around Neumann KH 310 monitors with a KH 750 subwoofer, providing the detail, low-frequency extension and clarity I need for critical mixing and mastering decisions.

But a record won't only be heard in a mastering room.

My ADAM A7X monitors provide a second studio perspective, while smaller everyday systems allow me to step away from the analytical listening environment and hear the music closer to the way people experience it in the real world.

Moving between these references helps me evaluate tonal balance, low-end behaviour, dynamics, vocal presence, impact and overall translation without relying on a single listening system.

Calibration and measurement are part of the process, but they are not the final decision-maker. They give me a reliable reference point from which I can listen and make musical decisions with confidence.

The monitors show me what's happening. The music tells me what to do.

Conversion & Signal Path

A clean path from the music to the monitors.

Every decision in mixing and mastering depends on being able to trust what I'm hearing.

The studio is built around RME conversion and audio interfaces, providing a transparent and reliable signal path between the digital session and the monitoring system.

A Heritage Audio RAM 2000 handles monitor control, allowing me to move between different listening references while maintaining a consistent workflow.

The goal isn't to add character simply because a piece of equipment can. At this stage, I want the monitoring chain to give me an honest picture of the recording so that any changes I make are intentional and musical.

The less the monitoring chain gets in the way, the more I can concentrate on the record.

Workflow

The right tool for each stage.

Every project is different, but the workflow follows the same principle: listen first, understand what the music needs, and only then decide what needs to be done.

For projects that require restoration or preparation, I use iZotope RX Advanced to analyse the source material and address technical problems before they become part of the creative process.

Pro Tools is my main environment for editing and mixing, where I can work from individual tracks through complex multitrack sessions while keeping the arrangement, dynamics and performance at the centre of the mix

For mastering, I work in WaveLab Pro, where the perspective changes from individual elements to the record as a whole. Here I focus on the final tonal balance, dynamics, sequencing, consistency and preparation of the masters for delivery.

Analyse. Mix. Master.

Each stage has its own purpose, but they all serve the same goal:

Protect the intention of the music from the original recording through to the finished master.

STUDIO EQUIPMENT

The tools behind the decisions.

The studio is built around a carefully selected combination of monitoring, conversion, control and software. Every piece has a purpose within the workflow—whether that's revealing small details, providing another listening perspective or making the process more efficient.

The equipment is important, but it isn't what makes the decisions.

The tools provide the information. The ears make the choice.

iZotope RX Advanced

Built for the music.

Technology gives me the ability to see deeper into a recording, but the final decision is always made by listening.

Whether I'm working on a single master, a full album or a complex multitrack production, the purpose of the studio remains the same: to provide an environment where I can make confident decisions while protecting the character of the music.
